SIMPLE TO USE
The UR Block waterless urinal system is very simple.There are just two products; UR Block and Bio-Digester.
One UR Block is placed in a urinal bowl next to the urinal cage; the regular flushing water should be turned off. Each UR Block contains billions of friendly microbes that are slowly released down into the waste pipes, where they initially get to work in digesting lime scale and uric scale and getting rid of the malodours.
Because UR Block is always working 24/7, the concentration of activity of the friendly microbes is very high, thus ensuring the pipe work is kept clear and clean.
To ensure there are no malodours originating from the floor and the backs of the urinal, we have developed a biodegradable liquid that is a powerful bacterial concentrate containing surfactants. Bio-Digester is a highly effective organic all-purpose hard surface and floor cleaner that will also remove both lime and uric scale. Bio-Digester also acts as a booster for the UR Block microbes in the urinals.
Bio-Digester can be used throughout the washroom, even in the water closets. It is an extremely effective biodegradable replacement for all chemicals and disinfectants used in the washroom.
HOW IT WORKS
Microbes get to work
When uric scale is combined with lime scale (arising from calcium and magnesium carbonates present in most water supplies) you have the potential for both bad smells and blockages. The usual solution is to try to flush the deposits away with water.
Frequent flushing with water is also expensive and unsustainable. The average urinal uses 600,000 litres of fresh water a year. Even with urinal controls fitted, water usage is reduced but the build up of uric scale and lime scale becomes inevitable.
No more hazardous chemicals
Traditional ways of dealing with uric scale is to use powerful chemicals such as bleach, disinfectants or other corrosive chemicals. Bleach and disinfectants give temporary relief to malodours but do not remove uric and lime scale deposits. Strong acids are hazardous to health, pollute the water systems and are a large cost on the environment.
Natural microbial activity is the most efficient way of removing both uric scale and lime scale. The scale matter is removed and stays removed as friendly microbes digest all new uric salts (found in urine) before they have a chance to form hard scale.

FAQ
What does the system cost?
You just pay for the cost of the block. There are no capital outlay, conversion, or retrofit costs. Simply add the cubes to your existing urinals and turn off the water at the urinal tap! Other waterless urinal systems require replacing existing urinals, with the additional cost of plumbing works and retiling. There are however greater savings to be made with the use of our system in the reduction of water supply and sewerage charges. Additional savings can be expected from reduced maintenance costs as there are no more pipe blockages caused by calsification. The need to install automatic sanitizers and air fresheners are also eliminated.
UR Block sits in the bottom of the urinal, so what keeps the face/wall of the urinal clean?
The face of the urinal does not normally cause any problems. Bacteria find it difficult to exist on the urinal face because it is exposed to direct light and it normally dries soon after use. However the entire urinal is sprayed regularly with Bio-Digester as part of the daily maintenance, which contains microbes, enzymes, and water softeners to help prevent uric calsification.
Our Bio-Digester can also be used on the floor tiles, water closets, and throughout the washroom.
Should we continue with using chemicals and chemical disinfectants?
The UR Block system is 100% environmentally friendly and many of our customers understand the importance of moving away from regular chemical usage; after all, we all pay for the high use of chemicals currently used in the environment indirectly. Moving away from chemical usage is good for the environment and good for business. How does the UR Block system improve hygiene?
Waterless urinals are designed to dry out unlike the surfaces of wet urinals, which are constantly damp. Bacteria and viruses thrive in moisture but simply perish when dried. When you convert to the UR Block system, your urinal becomes touch-free, reducing the transfer of pathogens to hands. The conventional flushing mechanisms in some wet urinals are a dangerous point of cross-contamination because they require direct hand contact from each user.
Is the UR Block system difficult to maintain?
